Happy Day after Gaga!

I was supposed to continue April's A-to-tha-Zizzle Challenge yesterday with the letter H, but I was so busy getting ready for Lady Gaga's Monster Ball Tour that I completely forgot.  So, tomorrow I'll be posting on the letters H and I, which I will refer to as the HI post (yeah, that's funny isn't it? I promise I didn't plan that!)

My sister, cousin and I decided to dress up for the concert since we figured when else is it acceptable to dress ridiculous (besides Halloween and Mardi Gras, that is), and this is what we looked like:

We also added fake eyelashes on the way, so just imagine us with hot pink, lime green and rainbow-colored eyelashes in addition to the other stuff.  We were HOT.

When we got to the arena people started asking us to take pictures with them.  We met all kinds of Gaga freaks and took dozens of pictures with them.  Our tickets were in the nosebleeds because we bought them a few weeks after they had gone on sale, but while we were walking around on the main floor a security guard let us in on the first level.  We were PSYCHED!  We went from awful seats to excellent seats.

She put on a great show!  We had a blast.

However, due to the excitement over Gaga I neglected my studies all weekend.  Time to study!

The Great Return

Hey y'all!

No, I didn't die.  Some of you were concerned and checked on me, which I appreciate. As for the rest of you.....FOR SHAME.

Just kidding.

Seriously though, sorry for my extended absence.  I have SO much reading to do.  I have to catch up on what you guys have all been up to lately.  I've just been so busy the past few months that I've barely had time to catch up on my DVR'd shows.  That's busy.

So, what have I been up to all this time, you ask?  (Even if you didn't ask, just go with it)

Well, in January I volunteered to be on the committee for my ten-year high school reunion, and that has taken up an enormous amount of my free time - way more than I originally thought it would.  It's a very involved process, much of which the majority of my former classmates have no idea.  There's venue selection - which is ridiculously expensive and a contract must be signed for several THOUSAND dollars - which is no easy decision, then there's the food, band, decorations, theme, keeping up with the Facebook page (my job), people-finding (which thanks to Facebook is impressively easy now) invitations, t-shirt design (another of my jobs), pre-reunion functions, blahbety blah blah.  I'm starting to think I should be getting paid for this.  Whoever made up the word "volunteer" should be shot.  With a bazooka.  Or a cannon.

Anyhoo, I also started the Spring semester in January, which is going extremely well thus far.  I have some pretty interesting classes, such as Early American History, Art History and Sociology; and some not-so interesting classes, such as Early Civilization (BORING) and Geography of US and Canada (not so bad, I just hate maps).

Aside from that, I've just been busy with the usual - hubs, kiddos, job, etc.

On a much more exciting note, I have three awesomely fantastical and fantabulous events coming up:

March 13:
RASCAL FLATTS
Chicka chicka yeah!  The original date was in February, but the Flatts got stuck in Texas due to snow (I know, snow in TEXAS?!  Come on!) and had to be rescheduled.  This will be my second time seeing them in concert, and they're fabulous, so I can't wait!

As if that concert wonderfulness wasn't enough....

April 9:

LADY GAGA
I say it's a graduation gift for my younger cousin, but I really do want to see her live.  It's going to be freaky and kinky and dirty and I can't wait!

Despite my excitement over the two concerts, neither can even come close to the absolute, six-year-old-on-Christmas-morning, Richard-Simmons-workout-video, over-the-top, complete and total anticipation over what's coming in May:

WASHINGTON, D.C.

I cannot accurately express my excitement over this trip.  Five days and four nights in my nation's capital.  I will have the opportunity to be THISCLOSE to the original Declaration of Independence (among other historical documents), walk through the Library of Congress (a bookworm's dream come true), stand in front of the White House, the Lincoln Memorial and so many other monuments, as well as explore a few of the massive Smithsonian Museums and see pieces of history right in front of me.  I've already warned Hubs that I may cry.  More than once.

I've always loved history, but my delight over this trip has solidified my decision to teach history.  How can I not attempt to pass on this affection to young, impressionable minds?  I can only hope my appreciation of history will rub off on my future students.

So, this is a warning, I will be talking about this trip A LOT over the next two months.  I promise I'll try to keep the enthusiasm down as much as possible.

Also, it's currently Carnival Season in Louisiana (aka MARDI GRAS).  That means lots of king cake, parades, beads and a break from school.  I have the entire week off next week.  I plan to spend it working on two essays (there's no real break from school), Spring cleaning, doing some Washington research/planning and shopping.  Lots and lots of shopping.  (Don't tell Hubs.)

Well, it feels good to be back, and I'm going to try and make a valiant effort to keep up with blogging, because I really enjoy it, especially reading the posts of my BBBs (Blogging Best Buds).  I've missed you guys!

Love, peace & chicken grease, y'all!

Face Punch

First of all, I want to say

THANK YOU

to all of you sweet, wonderful people who left comments and gave much encouragement after my last post.  I sincerely appreciate all of you taking time out of your days to not only read my blog, but also comment frequently.  I'd make out with all of you if it wouldn't upset the hubs.

Secondly, I've been given the
AGAIN by the lovely Serena at I Left My Heart In London.  That's the third time this week.  It's so great to get recognition from people like you, Serena, as well as the others who have recently gifted me with awards.   This is for y'all:
Anyhoo, enough of the warm & fuzzy.  I've recovered from my exhaustion and found that I have plenty of energy to be annoyed today.  So let us begin with today's FACE PUNCH....

Lady Gaga

I know she's, like, EVERYONE'S favorite singer right now.  She's the twitter queen.  She's setting records and selling out concerts and will probably win every MTV VMA there is come September.

So I did like "Bad Romance,"  but that's it.  The rest of it is all just terribly annoying to me.  I can't stand her ridiculous outfits, the hair, the makeup, the videos ALL over YouTube.

Basically my affection for Gaga has gone down the drain.  Our romance has gone bad, if you will.  (Hehe)

Sorry Lady G, but you get a small face punch from me.  The only way to redeem yourself would be to scare Justin Bieber right out of the music business.

Nascar

I've never liked Nascar.  Ever.  I don't understand at all why someone would want to watch fifity cars drive around in circles for hours on end.  Yeah, I get that the crashes are cool.  Still, that's not enough to convince me to watch.

Nascar isn't pasted all over the news or anything, but I was unfortunate enough to overhear a thirty-minute conversation about it yesterday, and that was all it took for me to want to give them all a nice big face punch.

Speidi

I had to use this picture because it's proof that Heidi is a big fat liar.  Or, rather, a tiny, bleached-blonde plastic liar.  We all know they're attention whores.  We all know they'll fake a divorce just to get their pictures pasted all over magazine covers.  Basically, we all know they suck.

I wish everyone would protest Speidi, just long enough for them to be banned forever from Hollywood, television, magazines and Entertainment Tonight.

Government Officials and their spouses taking advantage of their positions by going on many unnecessary and frivolous vacations and calling them "visits to address situations"

I'm not naming any names (mostly because I don't want the CIA reading my blog.  They have no sense of humor), but there are some people  - who are high up on the importance list -  I feel are taking advantage of the free plane and accommodations set aside for political use, and instead using them for vacations.

Now, it's true that if I had the opportunity, I'd probably want to take one or two trips to some exotic locations.  However, I would not take trips to places dealing with natural, ecological and other disasters with the front of a political visit, and instead go shopping and lay out.

Just saying.

So, teensy tiny face punch to you, unnamed people, because I want to continue to use my right of free speech via this blog.  Also, I don't want to be put on anyone's watch list.

Sunday is for church.......and funny videos.

I saw this video for the first time about five months ago on YouTube, and have watched it about twenty times since then.  I've also insisted that everyone who comes to my house watch it as well.  I thought my loyal blogging pals would enjoy it on this lazy day.  Because what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon than watching videos online?  I can think of none.

Well, maybe one...

If you've never seen Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance" video, go watch that first:

Then watch "Badder Romance" below:

The kids who did this video (they go by BINKproductions) put a lot of time and effort into it.  You can check out more of their stuff on YouTube here.

Later taters!
