Another one bites the dust...

I'm so sad.

Ever since Troy and Gabriella hooked up in the first High School Musical (hey, I was hugely pregnant and had nothing better to do than watch Disney Channel when the movie first aired, so hush) I've loved the idea of Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens as a couple.  Just look at them!

So.  Stinkin'. Cute. 

The only couple I have loved more than these two is Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston (and that one broke my heart also).   Especially after they sang "Can I Have This Dance?" in High School Musical 3, I just knew these kids were in it for the long run.  They are a perfect duet!  WAY better than Nick and Jessica were.  We're talking no contest here.  What a waste.  For shame.

I seriously thought these two abnormally gorgeous kids would eventually tie the knot and have a few abnormally gorgeous babies for me to ooh and ahh over in issues of People magazine, and who would eventually star in High School Musical 47.  Alas, it was not meant to be.

Various news sources have claimed that the two have parted ways - supposedly amicably.  I don't know if I believe that, though.  I don't think I would ever amicably part from Zac Efron.  They'd have to pry him from my cold, dead fingers.  I'm nothing if not melodramatic. 

Sigh.  Maybe Zac will hook up with some other totally adorable girl and I'll warm up to her.   Surely there will be some discomfort and a little tension.  It's not like a light switch, you know.  I can't just turn my feelings off and on at will.  I'm thinking it will take a good six months or so at least, though.  Breakups are difficult.   Where's chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream when you need it?

Maybe it's due to the date (10-10-10).  I'm not superstitious at all, though.  So probably not. 

Anyhoo, I figured since I'm in such a smitten kitten mood, I'd list for y'all my most favorite celeb couples.  Some of them are no longer together, but I think they should be (and just so y'all know, I'm an excellent relationship judge. If I say you're compatible, then you are!).

Loved 'em in Overboard, and I still love 'em. 

Their love is a groovy kinda love. Just ask Phil Collins.

Sarah Michelle Gellar & Freddie Prinze, Jr.

They've been adorable since the mid-90s.  So cute!

Justin Timberlake & Britney Spears

You know, back before she got all crazy, shaved her head and stopped wearing underwear.

I thought they were sweet together even

before I realized how deliciously addictive Gossip Girl is.

Well there you have it.  I was going to put Ryan Philippe and Reese Witherspoon on the list because I absolutely adored them together, but I really can't stand him since the whole Abbie Cornish fiasco.
