Fantabulous Friday - Halloween Edition

Finally, Friday has arrived.  This week has been entirely too long.  Since Halloween is a mere three days away, and Fridays are typically when I share the fantabulous things of the world, I've decided today to share with y'all the most fantabulous things about Halloween!

CANDY
Seriously, who doesn't love candy?

HORROR MOVIES
Nothing like scaring the bejeezus out of yourself with all-time greats like Halloween, Friday the 13th, Silence of the Lambs, Se7en, The Shining and many more!

COSTUMES
Aside from the ever-increasing sluttiness that has become Halloween costumes, I love that for a night (or an entire weekend depending upon your stamina) you can be anything you want to be, like maybe Beetlejuice, The Mad Hatter, a giant hotdog, anything at all.

HAY RIDES
This has always been one of the things I most look forward to every year:  crowding onto a hay-filled trailer with a bunch of parents and kids to ride around the neighborhood collecting candy.

TRICK OR TREATING
I've been too old to do this for a while now, but now that I have kids I get to enjoy it all over again!

KID HALLOWEEN MOVIES/TV SPECIALS
I love "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!"  and "Hocus Pocus."  I'm also super-excited to see the new Shrek Halloween special (which I taped last night) "Scared Shrekless"!

What do you love most about Halloween?

  1. OK, I have lots of comments.

First, your zombie/vampire dog made me actually laugh out loud! Hilarious.

Second, what the heck is with the slutty costumes? Can nobody get attention without their panties showing?

Last, my son discovered Hocus Pocus this year and we have watched it almost every day. They love it. He now refers to his younger brothers as "the children" because of it.

  2. NO WAY! You guys get to ride around on a hay covered trailer?! That's way too awesome!

I'm all about the pumpkin seeds. And Rocky Horror Picture Show. Sorry, but that does qualify as slutty. But it's oh so very much fun!

I just wish Halloween could be more funny and less scary. Not a fan of scariness.

  3. Halloween is my second favorite holiday! My grandmother, on the other hand is one of those people who turns off the lights to seem like she isn't home because candy is "so expensive"....

When I was little we lived in a very hilly neighborhood so we didn't have many trick or treaters so all the houses gave cash or the king size candy bars as a reward for making the climb...those were the good ole days!

  4. My favorite thing about Halloween? Everything you listed. I cannot wait to be able to go trick or treating again. It's been soooo long! But I have no kids so I don't think anybody would actually give me candy :(

I've got mine tomorrow night, almost 70 people coming and we've got a tiny house. We've decorated already and the whole house looks amazing, we are going to show London how to party Halloween style!

  8. I love love love getting scared shitless (can't wait to see Saw 3D!)...but I'm also a HUGE fan of children Halloween movies.

I'd have to say that my favorite thing about Halloween is that it brings Fall's gloriousness with it. I freakin' love love love Fall. It's the best season ever. sigh.
